ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name is David Velde and I was born in Manhattan New York in 1964. I’m a father of five and currently live in Niles Illinois. I’m a moderately successful businessman in the construction industry and a real estate investor. I enjoy playing music, traveling, good food, exercise, and dancing. I’ve always have had a passion for writing and was inspired to write a children’s story about my now two-year-old son David who was born June 29th of 2017. I’ve now written three stories; No-Nonsense Mr. Boo Boo and Boo meets Sam, they are joined in one book and David and Braveheart is the other. Both books are currently being published by Page publishing company out of New York and will be available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble soon. All proceeds from both books will go to St, Jude’s cancer research hospital.

I’ve always been one to call things like they are and can’t stomach those who intentionally mislead people for personal gain. For some time Fox news has crossed the line from spinning the truth to spreading propaganda but, since Donald Trump started his campaign in 2016, their network has been catapulted into a different galaxy defending his criminal behavior and his divisive rhetoric. The most unsettling thing is to have watched it catch on, and see how it’s poisoning the minds of our children. The word candor is not a household term used in many homes anymore, and the problem is growing like cancer. Nothing has gnawed at me worst than this and I’ve never been more motivated to do something. One day I had a fleeting thought; an alien vigilante bird that championed the truth came to earth to help restore our honesty. That thought inspired me to write the Truth Bird. My hopes are to reach as many people I can to express the seriousness of what I believe is the largest threat to our democracy. This crisis demands much more than a village to combat and should be everyone’s top concern that loves the freedoms we were so fortunately given by our founding fathers. I challenge everyone to spark a humble conversation with one person a day about the dangers of propaganda and call out those who are trafficking in falsehoods and conspiracy theories. We can never give up talking about it until the offenders realize it’s a losing strategy, and we need always never forget in the event it rears its ugly head again. The Truth Bird, Volumes are currently published by Page Publishing Company and will be available at Barnes and Nobles and Amazon shortly. I hope you read my books and join the fight for the truth.

Right around the time when the Russians began posting fake adds in 2016, my seventeen-year-old son came home every day with a new outrageous news report he saw on social media. Watching his reaction to the false stories disturbed to use my own influence to make him research the facts from a credible news source. I told him either do it or I wouldn’t let him use the car. The pain of not driving motivated him to at least do the legwork and research the validity a discussion surrounding the subject of propaganda he’s turned the corner and is less likely to buy into the next outrageous story put out on the internet.
